ESTATES / DECEASED ESTATES

A structured route for deceased estate assets

Bavaria Auction House provides professional, transparent and discreet auction support for executors, attorneys, fiduciary practitioners and families responsible for movable estate assets.

We understand that an estate can represent both practical work and personal memories. Our role is to provide a careful, respectful process for assessing, presenting and selling suitable assets, while keeping the authorised representative informed.

A DISCREET FIRST STEP

An assessment shaped around the estate

Every estate is different. We can begin with photographs, an existing inventory or an appropriate inspection, depending on the location, quantity and nature of the assets.

The initial discussion helps identify whether selected items, a substantial group of contents or a complete estate collection may be suitable for auction. We explain the next steps clearly before any consignment is agreed.

DECEASED ESTATE SERVICES

Assessment, consignment and auction support

We work alongside the authorised executor or professional adviser. Bavaria does not provide legal, tax or estate-administration advice.

Fine Art & South African Art

Paintings, works on paper, sculpture and potentially significant local or international works.

Jewellery, Watches & Silver

Personal effects and collections that may warrant individual research, cataloguing and auction presentation.

Furniture & Decorative Arts

Furniture, porcelain, ceramics, rugs, carpets and decorative objects where suitable.

Collectables & Specialist Contents

Books, coins, memorabilia and specialist collections, assessed according to their nature and market relevance.

WHY AN AUCTION MAY BE APPROPRIATE

A transparent route for a broad range of assets

An auction can provide market exposure and an efficient way to present multiple categories of movable property.

Transparent market exposure

Competitive bidding

Efficient disposal of multiple categories

Documented sale process

Auction estimates are opinions of likely auction ranges and do not guarantee a selling price or outcome.

ESTATE COMMISSION

Limited Launch Offer Estate Commission

For qualifying substantial or complete deceased estates, the current seller's commission is 5%, with no VAT added to Bavaria's commission while Bavaria is not VAT registered.

The standard tariff after the launch offer is 8%. The applicable commission and any additional agreed costs are confirmed in writing before consignment. The rate remains subject to the nature of the assets, location, quantity, estimated auction value and services agreed for the instruction.
